Words that are more than one thing
English does not keep its parts of speech tidy. Table is a noun and a verb.
Light is a noun, a verb and an adjective. Every word here carries all of its tags, so a word like support shows up whether you filter for nouns or verbs, and its tags are listed under the letter tiles.
Classroom uses

Questions
How do I generate only nouns?
The Word type dropdown is already set to Noun on this page. Change it to Verb, Adjective or Adverb to generate a different part of speech, or set it to Any for all words.
How accurate are the word type labels?
They come from an open part-of-speech word list. Many English words are more than one part of speech — “run” is both a noun and a verb — and those words are tagged with all of their types, so they can appear under either filter.
Can I use this for Mad Libs?
Yes, that is one of the main reasons people use it. Generate the nouns, verbs and adjectives you need, one part of speech at a time, then fill them into your story.
Can I download the list?
Yes. Generate your words, then use Download CSV. You get the word, its length, its syllable count and its point value in a spreadsheet.
