Good opening words
The strongest openers cover common letters in common positions. Words built from the letters A, E, I, O, R, S, T, L, N and C give you the most information on the first guess. Generate a batch of five-letter words and pick one with four or five distinct common letters — repeating a letter in an opener wastes a slot.

How do I use this for Wordle?
Put the letters you know into the position filters. If you know the word starts with ST, type ST into Starts with. If you know it contains an E, put E in Contains. Generate a list and work through the possibilities.
How many five-letter words does it use?
It draws from the same 6,000-word common English list as the rest of the site, filtered to words of exactly five letters. These are recognisable words rather than obscure dictionary entries.
Can I get five-letter words that start with a specific letter?

What is the point value shown next to each word?
Standard letter point values as used in tile-based word games. It is there because five-letter words are a common play length and the score often decides which one you use.
